Second successful acquisition in 2010: INDUS acquires HAKAMA
Bergisch Gladbach, January 19, 2010 - With effect from January 1, 2010, INDUS Holding AG acquired a 60% interest in HAKAMA AG, Bättwil near Basel/Switzerland. The acquisition is subject to anti-trust approval. At the same time, the company acquired an option for the remaining 40% of the shares. The former owners, Marius Haberthür and Fritz Kasper, continue to hold 40% of the shares and will remain Managing Directors of HAKAMA.
In 2009, HAKAMA employed 145 people and generated sales revenues of approx. CHF 24 million. HAKAMA specialises in the manufacture of complex housings and assembly groups made from sheet metal, primarily for medical equipment such as analytical and diagnostic devices. The products are developed and manufactured to customers’ specifications and delivered ready-to-use. Among HAKAMA’s biggest customers are companies that supply analytical systems, e.g. for blood diagnostics, to laboratories, doctors and hospitals. Switzerland and Germany are the main output markets, with the company’s only production facility located in Bättwil near Basel, Switzerland.
"The affiliation with INDUS gives us the opportunity to sell our company successively to an investor with a long-term investment horizon. Our identity, which is very much appreciated by our customers and employees, will be retained and we can actively contribute to this process in our capacity as Managing Directors," said Marius Haberthür and Fritz Kasper.
"Following the acquisition of the remaining shares in OBUK, the HAKAMA acquisition was the second successful transaction we closed at the beginning of the year," said a pleased Helmut Ruwisch, CEO of INDUS. "By strengthening our position in the medical engineering sector, we are pushing ahead the strategic reorganisation of our portfolio," Ruwisch added.
